As an initiative of the Vishwakarma Institutes, leaders in the field of education since 1983, Vishwakarma Publications began operations in December 2012.
From the outset, under the dynamic leadership of Managing Director Mr. Bharat Agarwal, they sought to be mainstream publishers of quality content, with the main thrust of their efforts reflecting their areas of core competence – engineering and management education, and a part of their list consisting of the best books of general interest to readers in English and Marathi.
Thus Vishwakarma Publications commissions books in both these languages, and acquires rights of English books from well-known imprints like Rupa, Penguin, Random House India, Harper Collins etc. for translation into Marathi. In the short time since inception, they have many significant titles to their credit. Today, they are confident that the publishing industry in Western India has been transformed and enriched by their presence.
Many distinguished Puneites have written books for Vishwakarma, including Pralhad Chhabria, Arun Firodia, Madhav Godbole, Ganesh Natarajan, Dr. Deepak Shikarpur, Kiran Bhat, Sekhar Seshan, Dr. Arun Gandhi, Shubhada Gogate, Bharat Bhushan and others. Vishwakarma has also published Ronnie Screwvala’s inspirational book ‘Dream with Your Eyes Open’ in Marathi, and an incisive book of essays on internal security by former chief of the Intelligence Bureau, Vidyadhar Vaidya.
Vishwakarma Publications’ academic books cover a good portion of the syllabi for engineering and management students, and have titles ranging from Strategic Management to Strength of Materials.
They have also launched ‘Views and Vistas’, a nation-wide contest to search for fresh talent, which was set to conclude on September 30, 2015.
By lending support to PILF, Vishwakarma wishes to invite all the readers and associates to be part of an intellectual feast that will enrich the cultural life of Pune and provide many groups and individuals an opportunity to interact with their icons through workshops, panel discussions and book readings. They also wish to invite authors to submit their script for publishing.
