Samrudhdi Kerkar

Samrudhdi Kerkar, hailed from Ghoteli of Village Panchayat Keri in Sattari, nestled in the chain of Western Ghatmountains. Born at Ponda on August 27, 2000, Samrudhdi is the student of school without walls.
She has learned various skills of writing stories, articles, poetry and other literary pursuits through informal education process. She writes in Marathi, Konkani, Hindi and English languages. She has penned ‘Nirzar’ (Marathi poetry collection) that was published by Abhinandan Prakashan, Kolhapur in 2010, Directorate of Art and Culture, Goa facilitated the publication of her column in Daily Lokmat in to a book ‘AprupVasundhareche’ in 2014. Her collection of children short stories published along with her paintings in the weekly column of the daily Goa Doot; has been published in Book form entitled ‘Chitranchi Gosht’ in 2017.
Presently for last two years she has been contributing articles on various aspects of nature and environment and glimpses of wild life in the weekly column of the Marathi daily Herald.
She has written articles in English weekly, The Goan in School.
She never has been encouraged to take part into competitions and answered school examinations. However, when she participated in State level competitions organized by Gomantak Marathi Academy, she won the first prize in Greeting card making and won too, the first prize in the drawing and painting of Ganesh Image competition organized by daily Navprabha.
She takes part in street plays, aiming the environment education and performs folk dances. In order to understand India, she has travelled extensively with her mother and father.
She has been interviewed by Prime Channel, Goa, in 2016, TED ex in 2017 at Goa University. Zee 24 Hours shown a short documentary on her endeavor of acquiring education and Prof. Uday Nirgudkar too interviewed herin the special programme.
In order to propagate joyful learning, she organizes nature orientation activities for the peer group and take them for trekking, hiking, swimming, cycling, relishing on wild berries, bird watching, star grazing, butterfly watching andso on.
Since last more than four years, she has been organizing the Christmas celebration providing apt forum for the exposure of talents, skills of her peer group.
She is fond of dog, cat and wild animals.
The well-known Marathi literary figures Madhavi Desai, Dr. Anil Awachat, Dr. Somnath Komarpant, Ajay Kandar, the journalist Sachin Parab, Yashodhara Katkar has taken the note of her literary pursuits and appreciated her.
In 2015, Kulkarni Trust from Honda-Sattari, Goa conferred on her ‘Sharadiy Chandrakala Award’ for her literary talents.
In 2017, Gomantak Vidhya Niketan, Margao has awarded the best children literary Award for her book ‘Chitranchi Gosht’ at the hands of noted Marathi literary figure Indrajeet Bhalerao.
In 2017, Goa Marathi Academy under rising stars felicitatedher at the hands of Padmashree Awardee Madhu Mangesh Karnik.
