Dr Roman Gerodimos is a political scientist, academic, writer and consultant. He is a principal lecturer in Global Current Affairs at Bournemouth University in the UK, and a senior faculty member at the Salzburg Academy on Media & Global Change. His work focuses on the challenges facing democracy, participation and coexistence due to globalisation, digitisation and extremism. He is the recipient of the Arthur McDougall Fund Prize for his research on online youth civic engagement. He is currently working on projects focusing on the integration of migrants refugees in Greece, while also leading a cross-national survey of youth perceptions of global citizenship.
Roman is the co-editor of The Media, Political Participation and Empowerment (Routledge 2013) and The Politics of Extreme Austerity: Greece in the Eurozone Crisis (Palgrave Macmillan 2015). In 2015 Roman directed the award-winning short films At the Edge of the Present and A Certain Type of Freedom. His work has featured in numerous media outlets around the world, including CNN, BBC, Sky News, Associated Press and Euronews. He also works as a consultant on strategic communications, digital engagement and global current affairs.
