Mani Rao has eight poetry books including New & Selected Poems (Poetrywala, 2014), Ghostmasters (Chameleon, 2010),Echolocation (Math Paper Press, 2014) and two books in translation from Sanskrit— The Bhagavad Gita (Fingerprint, 2015) and Kalidasa for the 21st Century Reader (Aleph, 2015). Her poems and essays are in Indian Literature, Wasafiri, Meanjin, Fulcrum, Iowa Review, Colorado Review and numerous other journals and anthologies including from W.W.Norton, Penguin, Bloodaxe and Harper Collins (see manirao.com for a full list). She was a Visiting Fellow at the Iowa International Writing Program in 2005 and 2009, and the 2006 Iowa International Programs writer-in-residence. Mani has an MFA in Creative Writing and a PhD in Religious Studies.
