Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari is a gold medalist in applied arts from Sophia Polytechnic. She spent 14 years in leading advertising agency Leo Burnett (India) telling stories for the biggest brands in India & Asia. She won several awards like Cannes Lions, New York festival, One show, Promax, Goafest etc. She quit Leo Burnett as Executive Creative Director to follow her passion in filmmaking.
She made her first short film ‘What’s for breakfast’ which won the Babasaheb Phalke award in online best film. After working over 100 commercials & delivering creative solutions to national/international clients, she made her debut with highly acclaimed Nil Battey Sannata as (The new classmate) internationally which won loads of international awards. She remade in Tamil as Amma kanakku & recently won the prestigious Filmfare best Debut director award.
She was selected as one of the powerful women in 2016 in Femina & was even a part of Grazia women achievers 2016. She was invited as a Ted speaker at Tedx Bangalore 2016. Currently she is has just finished a fun slice of life rom com with the leading Times of India group division Junglee Pictures & BR studios LLP called ‘Bareilly ki Barfi’ which releases world over in August, 2017.
Apart from being a writer/director her passion for telling stories reflects in ‘No Makeup Story’. She is believes in Zen yoga, loves travelling & nurturing Mother Earth.
